Enjoying Combleux with a dear Friend!

7/14/2014

Bonjour mes amis!

***MY POST TODAY WILL BE BROUGHT TO YOU IN BOTH ENGLISH AND FRENCH (thanks to Google Translate)!

For my friend, Solange...

I know you think I'm completely obsessed with France!  And in many ways, I am!  But, when I show you what I have today, you should understand.

First of all, I have this really fantastic friend, Solange...

Tout d'abord, j'ai cet ami vraiment fantastique, Solange ...

She's fun and sweet, adventurous and talented, and always so positive!  I met her through my friend, Michele.  Michele and Solange have taught me so much about France and the French people!

Solange and I had an opportunity to spend the afternoon together.  We could have just gone to a Brasserie for a salad, but I asked Solange if we could go to Combleux.  It's a small village that I had heard about, for it's beauty.  I was told there was only one restaurant, so I didn't even know if we could get a table for lunch...

BUT WE DID!

MAIS NOUS AVONS FAIT!

Check out our views while Dining...

We sat right here along the canal during lunch...complete with tablecloths and cloth napkins..."très classe", as Solange says!  Our leisurely lunch was quite delicious, and it was so nice to relax and talk "franglish" together!

It was just so beautiful...

C'était tellement beau ...

A perfect day to take a stroll along the canal and beyond, after lunch!

It was really nice for us to come here together.  Solange had never eaten at the Restaurant, so that made it fun for both of us!

Combleux did not disappoint!

Combleux n'a pas déçu!

There was beauty everywhere!

Il y avait de la beauté partout!

It was a perfect day!

C'était une journée parfaite!

In many areas along the Loire River, there are such markings on buildings.  They show the height of the River at different times in History!

Ahhh...

Ahhh...

We considered a small boat ride, but decided to move on...

Solange then took me to the town she grew up in.  She showed me a Theater that she acts in, and her elementary School, and then we went to visit her Mother (who still lives in Solange's childhood home).  Solange's brother dropped by, too!  We toured Solange's Father's Garden.  Though he is deceased, his memory lives on in that garden space.  Not only did I enjoy a wonderful afternoon by the Canal with Solange, but I also got to see all things dear to her.  It was a very special day for me, and joy fills my heart as I reflect on the time we got to spend together!

Have a "Jewel" of a Day!
Jan
